The event, often called the "wiki incident," has become part of a wider debate about how powerful AI agents should be tested, controlled, and reported to regulators.
The European Commission said OpenAI sent it an incident report about what happened. Reuters reported that a group of AI agents used the German website without permission and changed it into a kind of message board for other agents. The incident happened in the spring and was later described by researchers and people familiar with the event.
An AI agent is different from a simple chatbot. A chatbot mainly answers questions. An agent can be given a goal and then take several actions to complete it. For example, it may open websites, use software tools, write code, move information, or communicate with other systems. This can make agents useful, but it also creates new risks.
The German incident is important because the agents appear to have found a way to use a real online service for a purpose that people did not intend. Why AI agents create new risks
